The Sports Blast with Joey Murr

November 29, 2008

Monday – Friday

7AM-8AM

I grew up in the city of Boston (Hyde Park), the same town as Red Sox pitcher Manny Delcarmen. My love for sports began at an early age considering there was a basketball hoop in front of my house, all the neighborhood kids would hang out there. Also my family got season tickets for the Patriots in 1993 where Drew Bledsoe and Troy Brown were my favorite players. My favorite baseball player was Mo Vaughn after being Nicknamed “Mo Joe” in little league.

My brother Jay was 4 years older than me and I followed in his footsteps through Sacred heart C.Y.O. and Hyde Park and Parkway Little league baseball. NHL94 for Genesis and Evander Holyfield boxing were my favorite video games. In 1996 I made my way to Trinity Catholic High School in Newton Ma, where I lettered 4 years on the varsity football team, and was a 3 sport captain for football, basketball and baseball my Junior and Senior year, captaining the basketball team to a championship in 2000. My favorite High school memory is taking a fumble back 57 yards for a touch down on thanksgiving day to win the game.

I attended Mass Bay CC then and currently holding a position at Glidden Auto Sales in Natick, Ma. I Graduated CSB Connecticut School of Broadcasting in 2007 and got an internship at 1510 The Zone with the “Lew and Mike Show” (which is now heard on 890 ESPN) becoming a producer at the station and also hosting my own show “The SPORTS BLAST”. I got my nick name JoeyMurr from my boy Tiny and it has made its way through www.joeymurr.com

Special thanks to my family Mom, Bob, Jay, Kate, Sophie, Uncle Al and Aunt Lisa and My Gram
